MCC
A Church Progressive in Ministry
"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it."
(Matthew 16:24-25)
"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'"
(Matthew 9:36-38)
Memorial Christian Church is at a turning point in its history. For nearly 140 years Memorial has led the way in the Rock Island community as a church progressive in ministry. However, for the past several years the church has experienced stagnation and decline.
The good news is that MCC has taken the hard, but necessary, steps of self-evaluation. As a congregation we have come to realize our decline rather then deny and run from its reality. And now has come the time to act radically and decisively. MCC has recaptured its vision for ministry, refocused its ministry gifts, redeveloped its ministry structures, reformed its ministry strategies, and renewed its ministry passion. Memorial senses God's calling to truly become a "Faith for Every Family" church.
MCC is actively seeking to deny itself, to lose itself from its stagnant inward focus to become the answer to the prayers of its surrounding community—to reach out with a relevant, practical, needs-based ministry to families in the Quad Cities area. |

Our Strategy:
Our strategy is to move out of our properties that have drained our resources and move into temporary facilities in order to free up resources for hiring new staff and funding new ministries that will target the needs of families in the Quad Cities.
Our Goal:
To be a church ministering to people whom God loves and Christ died for. To target our ministry to families of every stripe by providing needs-based ministry, small groups for Christian growth, a vibrant children's program and contemporary worship experiences for today's adults.
